Our Laundry Service Provider

“We are probably the oldest sail and technical fabric launderer in Europe and without doubt the most experienced, with 33 years of sail laundry to the sailmaking trade. We can handle sails from the smallest dinghy sail up to and beyond 800 Kilo superyacht sails and fabrics from the softest dacrons and canvases right through to exotic carbon/kevlon laminate racing sails and modern structural fabrics.

Since 1986, we have been undergoing constant testing of the latest bio-degradable products to be as environmentally friendly as we can. This is continuous throughout our whole operation.

Our care and responsibility is why the worlds leading sailmakers trust our ability to clean your sails to the necessary standard.

Tiptop eradicate general dirt, green algae, staining and mildew before coating with the latest in proofing and protection products.

Our Sail and Cover Laundry collection is on a Tuesday to Tuesday turn around so to ensure collection please bring your items to us by Monday afternoon.

For the full winter service we recommend the sails are brought in to us at the end of the sailing season. With our trading partners Tip Top, we will get them cleaned and dried to remove any damp attracting salt, check them over for any damage, broken stitching etc. If the sails have evidence of mould (small black dots in the sail cloth), we can offer an M5 Treatment which stops the mould spreading. We can then store them until Spring in a clean, dry, rodent free environment.

For the canvas we offer cleaning, reproofing and repairing, including window replacement if required.

M5 Treatment

If your sails or covers suffer from excessive green algae or black dot mildew growth, the M5 process is a proven way of preventing this for up to 9 months without using bleach in the coating.

The sail will also self clean during the season keeping your sails clean and bright!

Make sure to specify this process if your sail or cover suffers from black dot mildew or green algae growth.

Seaview Window Polish

All covers that we clean leave the workshop with all windows polished using a specially developed window coating.

Fabsil Gold re-proofing Treatment

After a few years from new, your canvas may require water re-proofing.

Canvas over time can loose some proofing from high winds, storms and just age.

Therefore, we offer a re-proofing service post to the laundry service. This will allow water to freely bead off of your canvas once more, relieving the worry of water getting inside your vessel.

This product is designed to be used on fabrics exposed to the elements for long periods of time. Fabsil Gold is a highly-concentrated waterproofing treatment perfect for use on equipment such as awnings, marquees, and tents. With 5 times more silicone packed into it. Fabsil Gold works great on items that see more than their fair share of wet weather or water - including boat covers and sails. Easily applied, Fabsil Gold will last longer than other waterproofing treatments, and offers unrivalled levels of water-repellency. It will bond to a wide range of fabrics including canvas, cotton, polyester, and nylon producing a strong, waterproof barrier against rain. Colourless and odourless when dry.
